Just a suggestion, but Video-Cellar I think it would be great if you could write up a step by step PDF document regarding research on Public Domain Films and load it to the Archive.

All of your information is scattered throughout the forums and while we will still probably need your help on determining if some films are PD, it would be great to have a definitive guide ( as much as is possible with PD films) on how to research, with topics such as:
------------------------
GATT/URAA considerations
Underlying copyrights
How to determine if post 1960 films are PD
------------------------
I appreciate all of your knowledgeable conclusions because at a lot of websites I've gone to they are a little too broad minded regarding copyrights.

There is a very good guide available for not too much (less than $30US I think):

the Public Domain
by Attorney Stephen Fishman

This is written by a real lawyer and he explains what the laws are, how they are applied and in what areas there is no consensus on what the law actually means.
